Bretton Woods, New Hampshire:

Surrounded by the White Mountain National Forest, Bretton Woods is the state's largest ski area. Everything about this destination is impressive from the massive slopes to the family friendly activities. Stay at the Mount Washington Resort, which recently completed a $50 million refurbishment and expansion (www.mountwashingtonresort.com).

Stowe, Vermont:

Stowe has been a favorite of skiers for many decades and for good reason. The town mimics a traditional European resort while Mount Mansfield offers amazing vistas and classic ski rums. Don't miss the newly constructed on-mountain Stowe Mountain Lodge (www.stowemountainlodge.com), which offers a simple way of getting on and off the slopes.

Sunday River, Maine:

Sunday River is located in the western part of Maine offering a large resort spanning more than 650 acres. Guests who come here are looking for premier alpine amenities with its downhill and snowboard paradise.

Jiminy Peak, Massachusetts:

Located in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort is the largest ski and snowboard resort in southern New England. The resort also is home to the only high speed six passenger chairlift in the region. The mountain features three terrain parks for both skiers and snowboarders (www.jiminypeak.com).
